Semantic Annotation

Description

Semantic annotation is the process of understanding the entities mentioned in a text document and labeling them with suitable semantic types corresponding to concepts in the real world, e.g., Persons, Organizations, and Locations. Semantic annotations are of paramount importance in web data extraction since they help reducing the amount of supervision required to generate a wrapper for the page. In other words, semantic annotations make wrapper generators self-supervised.

in DIADEM, semantic annotations are provided by ROSeAnn.
